Spring School Semester 2025
Share
I actually really love this blog option on my website and wanted to give everyone an actual update and some details about how I am doing and what is going on with my school. I appreciate all the support and everyone who reached out to just 'check-in' and see if my business was even going to continue running. I actually enjoyed my winter break and before I knew it, it was already January 21st and my school semester went RIGHT-IN to full swing.
I am actually taking 16 credit hours of courses this semester to push myself to graduate for next Spring so I can continue with my jewelry business endeavors. For those really curious I am actually taking Figure Drawing, Yoga, Advanced Jewelry/Metals, History of Photography, Jewelry as a Format and 2-D design. I am somehow going backwards in doing some of my base courses as well as starting my senior courses to finish off my schooling so I am almost at the finish line!!!
I did not anticipate how exhausting it would be taking 3 classes that require me to really use my wrists, shoulders and push my creating into other avenues I do not particularly enjoy. I even questioned my advisor why figure drawing was a required course for my jewelry/metals since I likely will never use any portraiture or human form in my work, but making the best of the situation. I do a TON of drawing, sketching, painting, etc and learning to make the best of it even if all I want to be doing is creating jewelry.
On that side note taking advanced jewelry this semester was still a good move. Since I am in the advanced course I can really push my creativity and try new avenues I have not explored before. The piece featured in the main image for this blog post was my first work I did based on self-portrait as the theme. It is a wonderful piece that really displayed my love for jewelry as well as who I am as an artist. I am looking forward to the senior exhibition and sharing my growth.
I also have ambitions to finish school asap so that meant getting a possible internship for the summer as well as taking any additional online courses I can from home. So, instead of doing SWAIA I will likely be getting an internship or doing some self-study for some additional school credits. However, I will be committed to doing some holiday markets once the Winter/Fall season comes around again!
Overall, with the workload I have from all these courses it left no room for me to focus on my business and my work this semester but IM NOT GIVING UP! I love my work, I love my business and I really love all of you for supporting me! So, we can just say this is a small intermission before my jewelry starts hitting the ground running again. As soon as my education is done I will be non-stop jewelry making and entering markets/shows/events/etc.
Thank-you for all your support and thank-you for coming along with me on this jewelry journey. Please be kind to yourselves and take care of yourself <3
